CASE STUDY

Background and Context:
The High School of Human Sciences, located in the city center, hosts a number of 376 students, all coming from the social context of Siena and its province. The approximate number of foreign students is 30, born by foreign parents and/or born abroad. Students are placed between 1 to 3 in the various classes of the first year classes, second year and last year.
Factual Description:
The project “Italian L2 Literacy” takes place during the school year with an external expert, holding the necessary qualification, and provides literacy and linguistic strengthening activities for different group levels. The Literacy project produces positive effects both for foreign student’s motivational point and the class.
Activities carried out:
Organizational method: formal group lectures with external expert.
Assessment and lesson learnt:
The project had a positive result for the foreign students because, through these Literacy courses, they overcame some linguistic difficulties and acquired operative tools and basic skills that guarantee a global access level to the contents to be shared with the class.
