The "Défi RenaSup" was a sporting event organised in Cabourg (Normandie). It gathered 2000 students and teachers from short private higher education (belonging to RenaSup), from the French region of Normandie. Thirteen perofessors were invited to this event. These teachers, each have different specialties, such as sport, history, languages, and these have moved from all over Normandy to attend this event RenaSup. This event was a real sporting event, which allowed the participants to develop their skills, but also to have several objectives such as: To practice physical activities, because the race is a raid gathering several sports activities like the passage of obstacles, running on a beach and also in the water. This event also helped to encourage a spirit of mutual aid, but above all solidarity and mutual aid.
On October 3, 2017, the students had first a musical warm-up, and then had to go through a challenging obstacle course. This race was difficult for the participants, it required not only a significant physical effort, but also the participants were able to develop different skills such as mutual aid, or solidarity in the effort. This race was organized with the aim that these students, high schools, can develop these skills, and that they realize that these moral notions are necessary not only for the realization of this race, but also in the life of every day with the people they meet. Initially, several stands were put in place and students and teachers were able to walk around and take a look. It was therefore at the beginning and at the end of the race that the participants were able to appreciate all of these moral values. The presence of RenaSup during this race was extremely interesting for the I Have Rights project. Jean-Marc Petit and Elise Dosnon set up an "I Have Rights" stand, with a roll-up and the flyers from the project.
Several teachers were interested and were asking questions during the afternoon, but also many students. Because once instinctive application of all these values in a collective effort, participants were able to realize when they went to the edge of the stands, that these values are also important in everyday life and especially in the integration of everyone in a society. In front of the RenaSup stand, Jean-Marc Petit and Elise Dosnon were able to promote the I Have Rights project to the various students and professors. They were able to present the project, according to the purpose, which is to provide secondary school teachers with the necessary skills to manage multicultural classes where fundamental European values are understood and shared. Thanks to the project, and to this event, the professors who showed up at the Renasup stand were able to understand the interest of this project, which is to develop intercultural skills based on knowledge and understanding of human rights, as well as only on the values of non-discrimination, particularly with regard to immigration. Beyond this desire to make the project understood by the various professors, the students participating in the race were not only a target group because they were able to understand that multiculturalism and the integration of each into a group, by sharing the values of this group and by the way, the project and those that they have practiced during the race are important to them, society and their future.
After this presentation in front of the stands, Jean-Marc Petit made a speech and talked about the project. This intervention was an opportunity to recall the objectives of the project I Have Rights, the results wanted to the people who showed their interest in front of the RenaSup stand, but also and especially to make known the values of this project to the people who took part in this cross. This event was thus a real success because it allowed making known this project to the 2000 people present during this cross: the pupils, the participants, thus and especially: the professors and directors of establishment of the entire Normandy region. All these people, were able to take knowledge of this project, which thus took a much larger scale thanks to this presentation in the form of stand, then this intervention of Jean-Marc Petit. The people in front of the stand as well as after the intervention of Mr. Petit showed a real interest not only for the ideas that the project I Have Rights represented for them, because the guide to teach for example can really be a help for young teachers, and even for experienced teachers. The students were also very interested in the topics covered by the project, but especially in the project itself, which in itself represented the physical test that they had just done.
